Concern

God has no more

   concern for me

Than for the destiny

   of a flower

     or the fate of a tree;

Or even

     the faintest possibility

   of a cloud.

Heaven is naturally indifferent

   to any voice

     which cries aloud—

   the fallen and the proud.

All men can only fend

   against a storm

     of inevitability

Until every each

   his own last end.
